JUSTICE HAMDI OFFICIALLY INAUGURATED AS CHIEF OF THE CIVIL CHAMBER
Jakarta – Public Relations: Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia held the Plenary Session of taking oath and inauguration of the Chief of Civil Chamber on Monday (27/4) in Jakarta. The plenary session was lead by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Prof. Dr. Sunarto, S.H., M.H.
In the plenary session, Prof. Dr. Hamdi, S.H., M.Hum. was officially inaugurated as the Chief of the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia. He replaced I Gusti Agung Sumanatha, S.H., M.H., who retired on 1 April 2026.
The event was also attended by the Chief of the Development Chamber, Syamsul Maarif, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D., and the Chief of the Supervisory Chamber, Prof. Yanto, S.H., M.H., who served as witnesses.
Born in Tanjung Pinang on 2 October 1957, Hamdi was inaugurated as the Chief of the Civil Chamber based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 50/P of 2026 dated 21 April 2026.
Led by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Hamdi recited his oath to carry out his duties with full responsibility and to uphold the 1945 Constitution.
“I swear to God that I will fulfill my duties as Chief of the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court to the best of my ability and with the utmost fairness, uphold the 1945 Constitution, and implement all laws and regulations in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia of 1945, while remaining devoted to the nation and the state,” said Prof. Hamdi.
Prof. Hamdi’s Profile
Prof. Hamdi has served in the judiciary for almost four decades. He began his judicial career on 4 June 1984 as a candidate judge at the Klaten District Court. He was first assigned as a judge at the Enrekang District Court in April 1986.
For nearly two decades, he served in various regions, including at the Sungailiat District Court in 1991 and the Purwokerto District Court in 1997.
In 2000, he was appointed as Vice Chief Judge of the Bangkinang District Court. A year later, he was appointed Chief Judge of the same court.
His extensive experience in several regions led him to serve as a judge at the Central Jakarta District Court in 2003. In 2006, he was appointed Chief Judge of the Magelang District Court.
His career later advanced to the appellate level. In 2008, he was appointed as a High Court Judge at the Banjarmasin High Court, before being transferred to the Yogyakarta High Court in 2010.
His dedication to the judiciary continued when he was appointed as a Supreme Court Justice in the Civil Chamber on 18 February 2013. After 13 years of service at the Supreme Court, he was finally inaugurated as the Chief of the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court. (sk/ds/RS/Photo: sna,end/Translation: azh)
