Jakarta-PR: To respond to the kind of problem that happened in Supreme Court, Chief Justice of Supreme Court Prof. Dr. H. Sunarto, S.H., M.H. urges all Chief of Appeal Courts in Indonesia to enhance the exemplary conduct and to regain public trust.

This statement said when he inaugurated 11 Chief Judge of Appeal Court on Thursday, January 9, 2025, in Supreme Court, Jakarta.

The professor of Airlangga University says that nowadays Supreme Court faces huge problem in maintaining and regaining public trust.

“Nowadays, public trust to court is one of crucial issue that we must focus on it. You all as Chief Judge of Appellate court must handle this big responsibility to regain and enhance that trust. It’s need strong commitment and noble exemplary conduct to regain public trust that has been shaken,” he said.

The Chief Justice also emphasizes that all Chief Judges have strategic role in defining organization way. He reminds how important integrity and professionality as a base to maintain court branding.

 “The good and bad institution depend on your exemplary conduct. The good leadership will ease transformation in every level of judiciary apparatus,” he adds.

In the speech, the former of Head of Supervision Agency Cited Prof. J.E. Sahetapy who stated that bad fish started from its head.  This simile he used to underline that organization quality depend on its head. The good leadership will make transformation easier. Integrity and professionality are the base of public trust, and it is must began from its leader.

“Never, the leader become main source of problem. It will break our dignity,” he said.

That event also used by The Chief Justice to urge all Chief Judges to take strategic and planned ways, include doing annually, regularly, and hierarchy development.

Voorpost function also asks the leaders of Appellate Court to evaluate technic and non-technic performances, include to oversee the operations of judiciary, to monitor the judge and judiciary apparatus ethics, without intervention that ruin judge and judiciary independence.

The Chief Justice also hopes all Chief Judges can maintain the judiciary legacy and become good inspiration in realizing the noble, fair, and trusted judiciary.

1. Dr. Siswandriyono, S.H., M.Hum, as Chief Judge of Appellate Court of Medan, before he was Chief Judge of Appellate Court of Riau;
2. Asli Ginting, S.H., M.H, as Chief Judge of Appellate Court of Riau, before he was Chief Judge of Appellate Court of Manado;
3. Amin Sutikno, S.H., M.H., as Chief Judge of Appellate Court of Manado, before he was Chief Judge of Appellate Court of Jayapura;
4. Dr. Djaniko M.H. Girsang, S.H., M.Hum., as Chief Judge of Appellate Court of Jayapura, before he was Vice Chief Judge of Appellate Court of Medan;
5. Aroziduhu Waruwu, S.H., M.H., as Chief Judge of Appellate Court of Ambon, before he was Vice Chief Judge of Appellate Court of Banten;
6. H. Ahmad Shalihin, S.H., M.H., as Chief Judge of Appellate Court of Riau, before he was Chief Judge of Appellate Court of North Maluku;
7. Sutaji, S.H., M.H., as Chief Judge of Appellate Court of North Maluku, before he was Chief Judge of Appellate Court of Tanjungkarang;
8. Drs. Arifin, S.H., M.Hum., as Chief Judge of Appellate Court of North Kalimantan, before he was Vice Chief Judge of Appellate Court of Surabaya;
