CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE SUPREME COURT INAUGURATES SECRETARY OF THE SUPREME COURT AND NINE CHIEF JUDGES OF THE APPELLATE COURT

Jakarta-PR: The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Prof. Dr. H. M. Syarifuddin, S.H., M.H. inaugurated Sugiyanto, S.H., M.H., as the Secretary of the Supreme Court on Friday 7 June 2024 at the Supreme Court Building, Jakarta. This inauguration is under the Presidential Decree Number 44/TPA of 2024 dated 27 May 2024 on the Dismissal and Appointment of High Leadership Position in the Secretary Jurisdiction of the Supreme Court.

Before he was inaugurated as a Secretary Sugiyanto was a Chief of the Monitoring Agency since 18 May 2022, in the same time he also occupied as an Ad Interim of the Supreme Court Secretary from 12 June 2023.

The Chief of the Supreme Court expressed his congratulations to Sugiyanto on his inauguration as the Secretary. He also showed his gratitude to the Alumnus of Universitas Diponegoro on his genuine dedication as an Ad Interim of the Supreme Court Secretary and has performed his duty well and full of responsibility around one (1) year period until this inauguration as the Supreme Court Secretary is certain.

Syarifuddin hoped this new position may bring benefits and advantages for Sugiyanto himself, his family, and especially for the Supreme Court and all Courts throughout Indonesia.

According to Syarifuddin, Sugiyanto was elected to be the Supreme Court Secretary as he has through processes and considerations and the result was Sugiyanto’s knowledge and integrity has proven to be the one who is competent. Syarifuddin believed Sugiyanto has many experiences, from leading the first court until he was trusted to be the top leader in the Monitoring Agency.

“His experiences and track records are become the precious modal for him to occupy this noble duty,” Syarifuddin said.

As an additional information, the Supreme Court Secretary is the central role because it is the coordinator on the duty performance of organization units in the Secretariat and Registration of the Supreme Court. It is also the drafter and performer of policy and technical standard either in the technicians fostering or the court administration. Besides that, the Secretary has also become the fosterer, and the performer of monitoring, research, education training and others.

“The short is, a Supreme Court Secretary has the central role of realizing the development of the Supreme Court and all Courts throughout Indonesia,” said Syarifuddin.

Syarifuddin reminded that a position is the bridge of devotion and dedication for our country. According to him, bearing a position is not only awarding a title and enjoying facilities but it is also understanding that there is a responsibility to bear with all of their hearts. Earning a trust to lead in a small or big hierarchy is an implementation from many people who believe that we can be professional and competent at that position. He also said that a position is not a red carpet to achieve personal satisfaction.

In the same event, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court also inaugurates nine members of Chief Judges of Appellate Court as follows:

This inauguration was attended by the Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for Judicial Matters, the Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for Non-Judicial Matters, Chiefs of Chambers, Supreme Justices, Ad-Hoc Justices, Echelon 1 and 2 Officials of the Supreme Court and other guests.
