Jakarta – Public Relation: Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Prof. Dr. M. Hatta Ali, SH., MH, will be retired on May 1st, 2020. To avoid the top leader emptiness, the Supreme Court of Republic of Indonesia held a plenary session especially for election of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for the 2020 – 2025 period on Monday, April 6th, 2020 at KusumahAtmaja room, Jakarta. This plenary session held based on protocol Covid - 19.

The election that started from 10.00 pm held in two rounds. In the first round Dr.Syraiffuddin gets highest votes which is 22 votes, followed by Dr. H. Andi SamsanNganro with 14 votes. Because of the votes do not fill quorum, Chief Justice decided to held the second round.

In the second session, all Justices re-enact transparency, free and secret election. In this second round, justices only have two candidates that got the highest votes in first round, namely Dr.Syarifuddin and Dr. Andi SamsanNganro.

The result of second round decides that Dr.Syariffudin officially elected as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia for 2020 – 2025 period. Dr.Syarifuddin gets 32 votes higher 18 votes from his competitor Dr. Andi SamsanNganro who gets 14 votes.

As an elected Chief Justice, Dr.Syarifuddin in his first remarks thanks to everyone who has support him. Syarifuddin hopes that he can unite and cooperate in developing judiciary in his leadership period. “Thank you very much for colleagues who have supported me to continue this leadership relay,”Syarifuddin says.

In addition, Syarifuddin also conveys to colleagues to be able cooperate and start with basmallah, “then, no matter how difficult our task is, it can be source of our worship,” Syarifuddin states.

In that occasion, Syariffudin appreciates Chief Justice of the Supreme Court existing, Prof. Dr. M. Hatta Ali, SH., MH., who known as father of innovation who has been made kind of progression that have had good effect for Indonesian judiciary. “We will continue these progressions, so the noble judiciary can be achieved soon,” Syarifuddin hopes.

Meanwhile, in the remarks, Prof. Dr. M. Hatta Ali., SH., MH, greets to Dr.Syarifuddin who was been elected as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for 2020-2025 period.

Hatta Ali conveys that this trust is a big mandate and responsibility that must be carried out with full of heart and hard work.

In the same time, the former of Head of Supervision Bodies says to the other candidate of Chief Justice of Supreme Court who have been followed this fair competition, to do not discourage because there is always hidden wisdom in every situation.

Furthermore, Hatta Ali highly thanks to all justices who have attended the election and give their voices. Hatta adds that Justice voices are future for Indonesian Judiciary especially for next five years.

The result of the election will then be processed by the Election Committee to be forwarded to the President of the Republic of Indonesia who will definitively determine the Chairperson of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia.

In the end of his remarks, Hatta Ali persuades all parties to cooperate in supporting New Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

After closing the election of the day, Leaders, Justices, and Committee congratulated Syarifuddin by greeting Corona, by placing their hand on their chest.
